From the Sonoma Coast, this wine boasts a leaner ABV of 12.5%.
It has that cool climate nose of the west coast, with tart pomegranate, cherry, plum, wet stone and conifers. Hints of white pepper, 5-spice and a little toasted hazelnut frame the fruit nicely.
It has a lithe entry and plenty of lift and verve. It's delicately framed, but as it reaches the mid-palate it explodes into just-ripe flavors of strawberry, Bing cherry, red plum and Rainier cherry with wisps of white pepper.
It has a Burgundian feel and is all about elegance and delicacy where it takes a bit of work to explore all it offers. I think it'd well suited to food given it's acid profile, but it is gentle enough to enjoy as a sipper.
Quite nice. With so many warm months and powerhouse Cab-wannabe expressions out there, this is a refreshing example of beauty vs beast.
