2022 Patz & Hall Durell Vineyard Chardonnay

It has a bit of richness on the nose I can only equate to creamed corn, along with toasted/grilled peach and nectarine. There are layers of hazelnut, fresh cream and poached pear as well.

On the palate, it has nice body and texture without becoming overbearing but, remains leaning to the richer side. The flavors rather match the aromas, with loads of baked pear tart, creme brulee, lemon curd, golden apple and peach galette.

If you prefer a richer, more luscious and full expression but not falling into "butter bomb" territory, this is likely a great wine for you. Given it's density, I'd likely serve this colder than I usually prefer my Chardonnay, to tamp down the richness just a touch.

2022 Blue Farm King Ridge Vineyard, Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma County Pinot Noir

After representing the West Sonoma Coast through Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for essentially a year now, I was super excited to finally get to visit Blue Farm to taste through some of their wines.

It's a charming spot, but is a home, so I understand now why bookings fill up so quickly, being already limited. It's a comfortable space, surrounded by culinary and rose gardens. If in Sonoma, I highly recommend planning a visit.

This wine wasn't one from our flight that day, but I acquired it out of curiosity due to its closer proximity to the vineyard I had been representing.

There is a marked minerality on the nose with a ferrous quality along with wet river stones and a resinous pine grove aroma. Fruit aromas are of black cherry, dark plum, currant and some blueberry bass notes. There is a lifting herbal component I'd place somewhere between sweet basil and tarragon which adds liveliness along with a candied orange peel aspect.

It enters a bit darker on the palate in its fruit profile, with flavors of acai, black plum, black cherry, pomegranate and a savory element with an almost basalmic quality that is quite interesting. There is terrific depth of fruit that is quite expressive along with balanced accents of spice and toasted vanilla. To perhaps oversimplify, everything combined is reminiscent of boysenberry pie. It has fine-grained tannin that leads to a somewhat chalky feel on the finish that grips and holds on, making the finish nice and long and not allowing the acidity to wash itself clean. The acidity is medium, which for this region is perhaps due to the very warm season in 2022. That said, it's not lacking and the acidity is quite pleasant and well-integrated.

Quite enjoyable wine!

2023 Darling Lester Family Vineyard Pinot Noir

 From the Santa Cruz Mts.

A vibrant ruby leaning into flecks of orange at the rim.

Savory tomato leaf aromas arrive first along with celery salt, followed cinnamon bark, white and Szechuan pepper, then high-toned fruits like cherry, pomegranate and currant with an underlying sandalwood/cedar note.

It's lively and energetic on the palate with warm spices including hints of cinnamon, clove and Asian 5-spice. Hints of toasted vanilla and again that Szechuan pepper. The fruit is taken more of a backseat position presently, with the savory spice notes driving. The fruit is tart and red- currant, cranberry and barely-ripe cherry. The finish is on briny minerality with that celery salt component re-emerging.

Best with food at present and will benefit from a few years in bottle. It has really nice focus, freshness and verve without any aspect being overbearing.

I enjoyed it with a pork shoulder ragu on penne.

Union Grands Crus 2023 Bordeaux Tasting- San Francisco 1/22/26

I was pleased to again be able to attend this event for a preview of the forthcoming vintage release from all over the BDX region.

Overall, the quality in 2023 is great, with a number of delicious examples and a range of leaner wines up to some richer styles indicates a lack of uniformity in conditions this vintage. It's not a hedonistic vintage, but the riper areas crafted some really complex, layered and rich wines. The leaner examples managed to attain nice flavors and good balance, where the greener more underripe qualities are well managed in fresh, vibrant wines vs those that would be off-putting from a really difficult year. Attendance this year seemed slimmer with some notable absences- perhaps it was because this was the last stop and some folks opted out early for a myriad of reasons.

I began with Pauillac, then Margaux before hopping into Barsac/Sauternes (since those tend to run out before the end of the event). After a "sticky" reset, on to St. Julien, St. Estephe, Pomerol, then St. Emilion. I then opted to visit the whites for another palate cleanse/reset from Pessac/Graves, then back to their reds.

Listed not in order of tasting, but regionally:

            Pessac-Leognan

Highest marks for blanc go to Larrivet Haut-Brion and rouge to Carbonniuex in this AOC.

    Chateau Carbonnieux

Blanc: Punch gooseberry nose. Loads of lemon zest, honeydew and a touch of herbs.

Rouge: Stone-tinged aromas of red anchovies back fruits. It has a warm spice edge on the palate with red and black fruits and a touch of truffle umami on the finish. Very good!

    Domaine de Chevalier

Blanc: Really nice texture with loads of melon and citrus.

Rouge: Nose of stone and higher toned red berry fruits. Lively on the palate, with nice texture and a pleasant undercurrent of minerality. Quite tasty.

    Chateau de Fieuzal

Rouge: Lovely florals on the nose with lots of red and purple fruits, leaning atop touch blue. It is framed by herbs and minerality with blue and black berry and plum flavors. Lovely texture.

    Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere

Blanc: Nose of lemon and lime with zest and a touch of jasmine tea. Very nice wine.

Rouge: Stemmy aromas under red fruit with a touch of black fruits. It has good tension and structure- flinty while elegant. Red berry dominant with accents of black plum and berries.

(Pape Clement was absent, which was very disappointing, as I always tend to enjoy those.)

    Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte

Blanc: A touch of kerosene/petrol and mineral on the nose. On the palate, nice honeyed fruit and good texture and balance with layers of citrus, florals and melon.

Rouge: Red fruit dominant aromas. Lots of minerality on the palate, driven by higher tones red fruits with some bass notes from black fruit. Lovely earthy notes from flavors of tea, stone and iron make it interesting.

            Saint-Emilion

Highest marks here went to Pavie Macquin, but close seconds from Canon, Fourtet, Larmande and Valandraud with "equal" marks to one another.

Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot- The owner/winemaker indicated inclusion this vintage (I believe for the first time) of 15% whole cluster. Compared to prior vintages, of which I most generally enjoy wines form this house very much, it made a remarkable difference. It is a very fresh, elegant expression with added touches of tarragon and other fresh green herbs to accent the bright red and purple fruit flavors.

Chateau Canon- It has a very pretty nose with red berries and a touch of blueberry and minerals. On the palate, it's energetic with lots of layers of red, blue and black fruits underpinned by minerality and hints of black tea.

Chateau Canon la Gaffeliere- Aromas are of red and blue berry fruit with a pleasant touch of leafiness. On the palate, it has a lovely texture with loads of red, blue and black berry fruit and touches of bay laurel. Nice.

Clos Fourtet- Has nice depth on the nose with red and black plum aromas. It has great structure and tension on the palate with plum, red and black berry and a touch of minerality. Very good!

Chateau Larcis Ducasse- Riper nose of red and black fruits with a touch of leafiness. Oh the palate, a richer, bolder style than its neighbors with earthy, roasty and leafy edge. Flavors dominant of black plum and cassis.

Chateau Larmande- Beautifully floral nose with red and purple berries. This has lots of fruit on the palate  with a mixture of red, blue and purple berry and plum with a touch of black tea and earth. Good texture as well. Very, very good.

Chateau Pavie Macquin- A touch of steminess on the nose along with floral aromas and red and black berry and plum. This has a delightfully expressive palate that is lively and rich with loads of red and black berry and plum flavors. Really nice!

Chateau Soutard- Floral nose of red and purple fruits. It has deep flavor driven by blue and purple fruit with good balance of earthy tones and fresh fruit.

Chateau Valandraud- Interesting nose with plenty of red, blue and black fruit along with notes of iron and gunpowder. On the palate, it's a very sexy wine with great texture and it lingers nicely with tons of fruit. A very pleasurable wine leaning to the richer side of this appellation.

Chateau Villemaurine- Nice notes of coffee and earth under nice red and black fruits.

            Pomerol

Rouget was my favorite here, with close follow up by La Cabanne and Clinet.

Chateau la Cabanne- Darker aromas of black and blue fruits. It's a rich and ripe wine with excellent depth. Very nice!

Chateau Clinet- Lots of iron and graphite along with aromas of red and black berry. It's a dense, powerful expression with great structure and loads of red and black fruit. Excellent.

Chateau Gazin- Flint/gunpowder notes under red and black fruit on the nose. A wine with good tension on the palate, with a pleasant edge of minerals and earth alongside red and black fruit.

Chateau Petit-Village- Has a lovely nose with underlying earth and darker, blue and purple fruit. Lively acidity on the palate with bay leaf and tea amidst the blue and purple flavors.

Chateau Rouget- This has an interesting note of incense along with graphite and blue/purple fruit. The flavors match with a nice streak of black tea. It's complex and layered- Very nice wine!

            Listrac-Medoc

Chateau Forcas Hosten- A nice wine- bright and fresh with good balance. A great option for everyday enjoyment.

Haut Medoc (shame on me, I somehow bypassed this section entirely)

            Margaux

This tends to be consistently, my favorite AOC, so there is always perhaps a modicum of bias here. That said, this village shone again with high quality and delicious wines.

Highest marks to Brane Cantenac. Equal marks next to Cantenac Brown, Dauzac, Giscours, Lascombes and Rauzan-Segla.

Chateau Brane-Cantenac (one of my favorite wines and this maintained the reputation for me!)- Outstanding nose- very expressive! Loads of cassis and kirsch. Simply, a gorgeous wine! Rich., ripe and layered with gobs of black and blue fruits and a long finish.

Chateau Cantenac Brown- A more red dominant nose. On the palate, it's a bright, high-toned expression with "prickly" red berry fruit. It has good tension and freshness.

Chateau Dauzac- This one has a more oak-forward nose. Good balance on the palate with red and blue berry fruit. It's persistent with a good finish.

Chateau Giscours- Red and black fruit over a mineral-laden nose. Very nice- great minerality throughout with an iron-and-stone edge to the red and black berry and plum notes.

Chateau Kirwan- Lighter style. It's sexy, but lacks depth. A pretty wine.

Chateau Lascombes- A nice nose of pretty fruit and floral notes. It has some sumptuousness on the palate and just drinks very pleasurably.

Chateau Prieure-Lichine- A more subdued nose than others from this AOC. On the palate, it's pretty with nice red fruit with accents of purple berry with an interesting hint of fresh bread underneath. Nice.

Chateau Rauzan-Segla- Lots of fruit ranging form red to blue to purple. It has a great edge of minerality over luscious red and black berry fruit on the palate. Quite nice.

Chateau du Tertre- On the nose, gravel and red fruit. It has nice length on the palate. Good.

            Saint-Julien

Top marks to Leoville Poyferre, followed closely by Beychevelle, Gloria, Langoa Barton.

Chateau Beychevelle- Lively nose, loaded with pretty floral notes and red/blue fruit. It's juicy on the palate with those red and blue berry flavors and has nice length. Very good.

Chateau Branaire-Ducru- Purple flowers and plum on the nose. It has nice verve and pleasant blue and purple fruit flavors.

Chateau Gloria- This has a really pretty nose with lots of red and blue fruit. On the palate, the flavors match in a vibrant, sexy and layered style. Very nice!

Chateau Langoa Barton- It has a pretty red-fruited nose. Beautiful purity on the palate with nice fruit in the red and black end of the spectrum. Very tasty.

Chateau Leoville-Barton- The aromas are underpinned with minerals, with the fruit in red and black. It has a nice layering of herbs and minerals under dark flavors of black and purple fruit. Quite good.

Chateau Leoville Poyferre- Aromas of wam berry tart- very welcoming. On the palate, it's luscious with pretty red and purple berry fruit. Very tasty indeed! Highly recommended.

Chateau Saint-Pierre- Nice red berry aromas. The wine ie enjoyable, but fairly one-note at least for me, on this day. A high acid, high toned expression with nice freshness.

            Pauillac

Lynch-Bages takes the top prize here, with close second by Clerc Milon, Duhart-Milon, and Pichon Baron.

Chateau Batailley- Interesting nose with sanguine, mineral qualities under red berry fruit. It enters the palate with a lean, mineral frame with bright red fruits accented by a touch of black berry.

Chateau Clerc Milon- Punchy and robust with fresh red and black fruits. Very juicy!

Chateau D'Armailhac- A nice wine, but fairly middle-of-the-road for me compared with others today.

Chateau Duhart-Milon- A very tasty wine with pretty red and purple fruit. Sexy texture.

Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste- Nice freshness, but not overly remarkable. I may have been getting a bit of palate fatigue by this point. Nothing stood out.

Chateau Haut-Batailley- A black fruited nose with hints of black tea and bay leaf. The herbal edge remains nice through the palate of dark, black fruit.

Chateau Lynch-Bages- A very expressive palate on this wine! The last few UGC events, this house is consistent in its high quality and delivering a delicious wine. Loads of red and black fruit on wonderful texture. Highly recommend.

Chateau Lynch-Moussas- On the nose, tart blue and purple berry with mineral, lifted slightly by some red fruit. It has good lively acidity on the palate- a fresh style. Nice wine.

Chateau Pichon Baron- (full disclosure, this estate is part of the "family" of wineries I work with now- my first taste of the day to get acquainted with my colleague)- It has great balance and purity. Ripe, but retains verve and tension. Very good/high quality.

Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande- Red dominant nose. Pretty on the palate with high-toned red fruit and a nice edge of minerality.

            Saint-Estephe

Chateau Ormes de Pez- A flinty, lithe and elegant wine. Nice.

Chateau de Pez- Very flinty and the fruit reads a bit sour. Perhaps it needs more time in bottle to unfurl more.

Chateau Phelan Segur- Roasty espresso nose. Red and blue fruits on the palate. It's elegant but has sharper edges.

            Sauternes/Barsac

Chateau Coutet- Lovely aromas of white tea, and citrus blossom honey. On the palate, it's extremely floral and wonderfully expressive! Very highly recommended.

Chateau Doisy Daene- This nose has less of the honey/nutty quality of a LH wine, with more varietal character in its aromas. Honeydew, citrus. On the palate, it's elegant and sexy and remains very bright, leading it far from cloying or rich. Nice!

Chateau Suduiraut (another "in the family estate)- Nice aromas of honey, almond, toffee and hazelnut. On the palate it has terrific balance of acidity. It's luscious and succulent but retains verve. Very nice.

Chateau la tour Blanche- This has a unique pineapple and white tea nose with some crushed raw almond with citrus and melon. It's really beautiful on the palate! Lithe and sexy. It's a brighter expression, fairly light on its feet with great balance with the succulence underneath it all. Very highly recommended.

Pursued by Bear 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon

Still a bit oak-forward on the nose. A touch of leafy, stemmy quality over blackcurrant and barely ripening blackberries.

The forward oak is on the palate as well, with a tight, fairly reserved frame. This wine is stuck in its youth, so needs time in the cellar or a lengthy decant. Currently, the flavors are leaning toward crunchy black plum, blackcurrant, and firm blackberry. Hints of bay laurel and stone with a finish suggesting petrichor on the olfactory bulb.

This may need more time in bottle to relax. Best enjoyed with food.

First Release- Platt Vineyard

My first tasting of the new estate wines from the Platt Vineyard.

This was first established on the far west Sonoma Coast near Occidental in the early 2000s by former Hewlett Packard CEO Lewis Platt and wife, Joan. They sought out advice from great winemakers when planting  and thus, carefully selected the plant material and clones for each block of the overall estate. For years, top producers sourced this fruit and made acclaimed wines from it. It was purchased in 2022 and all the fruit is now kept in-house, producing these estate wines.

Full disclosure, this is my new place of employ, so this tasting is a bit of "homework." I can say if you enjoy the Burgundy varietals from the CA coast, you should seek them out.

o

2023 Chardonnay-

The nose is inviting with almost a fresh peach galette suggestion. Warm baking spice and pie crust support notes of pear, peach, nectarine and baked apple. There is also an underlying minerality to the mix as well.

It has moderate acidity to balance the more ripe aspects of the fruit. There are flavors of clementine, apricot, white nectarine, ripe pear and poached golden apple. All the perceived heaviness from the baking spice and pastry is merely a subdued accent on the palate, providing an undercurrent. There is almost a flutter of pea tendril. Overall, it's a lovely wine that provides plenty of ripe California fruit that remains in balance with some texture without feeling heavy or overbearing. The oak is nicely integrated.

2023 Estate Reserve Chardonnay-

Expressive aromas that meet your nose before the rim of the glass does. There is a noticeable streak of briny sea air as well as wet stone up front along with a nice chestnut, maybe hazelnut accent. The fruit here isn't as pronounced as the other Chardonnay, with mellow notes of stone fruit, apple and pear with a bit of Meyer lemon. Nosing this blind, I think could confuse many as to the location.

The texture on the palate is lovely with excellent restraint. The acidity isn't overbearing, but provides focus and a nice frame of elegance for the minerality present, giving the wine verve to balance the fruit. It lies within that tiny margin where crispness and richness meld. The oak whispers, under just-ripe flavors of green and golden apple, Asian and D'Anjou pear, white peach and nectarine with hints of lemon. This is really gorgeous with a style I'd compare to Chassagne Montrachet or Corton Charlemagne.

2023 Pinot Noir-

The nose on this wine leans to the darker side, with black cherry, acai, currant and Marionberry. There is a dusty garrigue-like undertone with suggestions of clay shards and cedar dust.

It's expressive on the palate with forward flavors of black cherry, blueberry compote, black plum skin and cola. Behind the fruit there are earthy components of stone, redwood, and hints of a mossy, forest influence. The acidity keeps it lifted and with the palate returning to the prettier fruit notes with very slight accents of vanilla bean and cocoa dust.

2023 Estate Reserve Pinot Noir-

This has a more subdued, earthier nose with aromas of licorice-tinged red and black fruits. Black tea, bay leaf, dark chocolate and iron all lie under aromas of blueberry jam, kirsch, black plum and black cherry.

On the palate, it has a warmer, brighter entry than the nose would suggest. Higher toned red fruit comes into play along with the flavors matching the aromas. Some flavors of pomegranate, black cherry cordial, currant and acai along with cedar. It has some nice Burgundian tension in the acid profile and in all, it's a bit reserved as of now. Best with food, or more time in the cellar.

First taste- Joviah

This is a new project by Lobo winemaker (and my friend and colleague), Victoria Coleman. Trained at UC Davis and under the mentorship of the likes of Warren Winiarski, Michael Silacci and during the 2008 season at Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Erick Tourbier, she began crafting wine in 2005 and holds the distinction of being the first black woman winemaker in Napa Valley.

Joviah is her own label, recently launched with the following two wines. I got to preview them to assist with the tasting notes.

2022 Sticks 'N Stones Cabernet Sauvignon (Oak Knoll District)-

This begins with a reserved nose of dusty spice and wood over aromas of red currant, black cherry, cassis, dried violet and bay leaf. It is accented with more baking spice at the back.

The palate opens into flavors of fresh blueberry jam with red and black currant. It starts with a leaner profile framed by bright acidity, then unfolds into a more voluptuous mouthfeel adding flavors of dark chocolate and cocoa dust, cassis, boysenberry and black plum with suggestions of chocolate mint all over polished tannins. It finishes on darker blue and black fruit notes with some vanilla accents. Throughout, it offers a stony minerality reminiscent of a St. Estephe which is balanced by a dark chocolate-covered cinnamon graham.

2022 Wulff Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Atlas Peak)-

Aromas unfold of blue and black berries, boysenberry, cassis and black plum with black tea and bay leaf over stone with hints of bitter chocolate and turned soil.

It has a vivacious entry with lively acidity over fine, polished tannins and a velvety texture. It offers loads of juicy blue and black fruit flavors along with accents of bay leaf and black tea. There is integrated oak, with underlying espresso and cocoa dust, Ethiopian coffee, kirsch and bittersweet chocolate chip. The juicy acidity is revived mid-palate, balancing the youthful tannins with flavors of spiced plum. It has a persistent finish and though a touch grippy in its youth, is already well integrated.

2023 Sphaerics On Days and Nights Chardonnay

My next adventure in this new project, with their Russian River Valley expression.

It begins with a lovely nose with an underlying leesy-ness and a lemon meringue pie quality. This is followed by notes of fresh, crunchy pineapple, apricot, white peach and a bit of chalky, stony minerality.

It has a lovely entry with a lithe texture and great finesse. It's not racy, nor is it dense, which put it in a nice goldilocks zone. It takes the flavors a little while to emerge, framed by lively acidity. The palate is of fresh citrus with flavors of Meyer lemon, graham cracker pie crust, golden apple, D'Anjou pear and Rainier cherry. The minerality is a through line, but isn't overly pronounced, providing a lovely backdrop to loads of freshness.

This should progress nicely over the next 5 or so years and may unfurl a bit more. I look forward to it tonight with a lovely piece of king salmon and English peas.

All the love the pro critics are giving these wines is fully warranted. They're wonderful and well worth seeking out.

TOR Kenward Family Wines- Current, New and Soon to be bottled

I have accepted a new position with TOR wines, so got a deep dive into the wines.

After 27 years at Beringer, responsible for pioneering the food and wine experience in the Napa Valley with Julia Child and Gary Danko and mentored by Andre Tchelistcheff and Myron Nightingale, Tor Kenward launched his own family brand in 2001. Tor has a close longstanding relationship with superstar grower Andy Beckstoffer and TOR winemaker Jeff Ames, a student of Thomas Rivers Brown at Turley, Schrader, Maybach and Outpost.

I enjoyed pouring the small allocations of these wines we had to work with in 2015 at Maisonry and am so excited to be able to work with them again, right from the source!

These were open a while from a critic tasting that had occurred prior and I got to them around 3 PM, April 28. See further down for more recent notes on 23s.

2022 "Cuvee Torchiana" Chardonnay- Beresini Vineyard, Carneros

Aromas of apple, pear, peach and tangerine with a touch of oak. On the palate, ripe, forward fruit- peaches and cream. Some underyling hazelnut. It's a richer, creamier style but remains in balance.

2022 "Cuvee Susan" Chardonnay- Hyde Vineyard, Carneros

A more subdued nose with lots of minerality. A higher acid, more focused and precise expression loaded with citrus, mandarin, orange blossom and nectarine with good verve.

2023 "Cuvee Susan" Chardonnay- Hyde Vineyard, Carneros

Nose of chrysanthemum tea, lemon peel, fresh cream and a touch of toasty vanilla. On the palate, it had bright acidity over ripe fruit. Nice energy on this wine, which is very floral. Just underripe apricot, white peach, Cara Cara orange and lemon zest.

2023 "Cuvee Torchiana" Chardonnay- Beresini Vineyard, Carneros

A nose of fresh cream, butter, nectarine and orange and almost a fresh cut summer squash note, with hints of toasted pineapple. It is rich, but balanced with ripe orange, nectarine, pineapple with a touch of lemon and pea tendril.

    2021 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

Nose of dried rose petals, brick, cedar, red and black currant, black cherry and a touch of bay leaf. The entry is warm berry tart, loaded with red and black berry fruit with nice baking spice. It has warmth and lift from the acidity, not alcohol. Finishes on sweet vanilla.

    2022 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

A fresher, slightly stemmy nose of brioche dough, red and black berry. It's lively and vibrant on the palate with loads of red and black fruit with a touch of star anise on the finish.

2022 Vaca Ridge (Upper Range Vineyard) Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa

Igneous, volcanic rock on the nose with red-leaning fruit; currant, pomegranate, cherry. It's got a grippy entry, but a velvety texture over all. The palate is a touch darker than the nose indicates, but is still more high-toned fruit. Blackberry, currant and black cherry. It's an "edgy" expression.

2022 Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville

Dusty accent over higher toned red and black fruit. Warm spice. On the palate, it's luscious and generous. Loads of plum, cherry, currant and blackberry that just keeps giving and going. Really an outstanding wine.

2022 Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville

Nose of clay and brick minerality with red-leaning fruit. Lots of red and black cherry, plum and a touch of herbaceousness. High-toned palate dominated by red fruits. It has flavors of plum, cherry and currant and is nicely focused. It's an elegant wine, which was the leanest in profile of the Cabernets at this tasting. Good texture and structure with a Bordeaux suggestion in its form.

2023 Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon (barrel sample)

Lifted, red-fruited nose. Flavors of warm berry compote and pastry crust. It has layers of red and black fruit but leans into the more tart red fruits a bit more.

2023 Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon (barrel sample)

The nose begins on sandalwood that moves into a blue and black fruit base, lifted by brighter red tones. On the palate, it has verve and vibrancy with an elegant structure. It has power, but with a satiny texture and pretty fruit.

2023 Pre-Bottling samples-

    Beckstoffer Dr Crane-

Mineral driven nose of iron and graphite, wet stone. Some cedar accents. Red and black berries, plum. Palate- Reminiscent of St. Estephe in it’s profile. Florals over minerality. Nice structure and texture with some blueberry hints over red and black plum and berry fruit. Notes of bay, black tea and a savory quality.

    Vine Hill Ranch-

Pine and garrigue with almost a hint of mint over higher toned, more red fruit- currant, cherry, Luxardo/kirsch. Palate warm and welcoming. Nice baking spice with loads of red and black cherry, currant, boysenberry, and red plum skin with elegant structure, polished fine tannin. Pretty.

    Beckstoffer To Kalon-

Very expressive and fragrant! Loads of fresh florals and ripe berry compote. Beautiful black plum and blackberry and cassis lifted by bright red tones of cherry and currant. Slight vanilla and almost hints of cardamom among the baking spices. Voluptuous and vibrant while remaining within balance. Loads of ripe red and black fruit over a sexy, elegant frame that is goldilocks between pretty and power. Long lingering and really outstanding.

    Beckstoffer To Kalon "BFD"-

Darker profile, more blue and black focused. Oak and cedar dust entry followed by black plum, cassis, a tinge of black licorice and wet slate. Palate follows with brooding black fruits, plum, cassis, marionberry and some underbrush suggestions with a savory sage suggestion. More powerful then To Kalon Cab in feel and structure.

    Pure Magic-

Dusty spice leads the nose, followed by spiced plum, candy apple skin, boysenberry and cassis. Nice grip on entry. Fine grained tannin over a powerful, somewhat earthy frame of dark blue, purple and black fruits. Suggestions underlying of cola, garrigue, toasted vanilla and graham cracker crust.

    Black Magic-

Touch more closed nose at the moment. Blackberry and currant leaf, with cassis and underbrush notes with suggestion of turned damp soil. Big and dark on the palate. Black fruited with some lift on the midpalate from a streak of warm spice. Earthy frame with notes of espresso, bitter chocolate shavings, graphite and dried herb with hints of mushroom.

Waldele Family Wines Flight

With Waldele Family being my Oenovangelist featured winery offer for May, I asked Hannes to taste through the wines and he generously poured me the lineup we focused on and then some. He is a talented winemaker and I cannot recommend his personal wines enough. They are well worth a try, then acquiring to give some age to more.

2023 Alexander Valley Sauvignon Blanc-

A fresh and vibrant style with aromas of lemon, lime zest, passionfruit and a bit of underripe pineapple. On the palate, the flavors follow the aromas with added hints of gooseberry. It has nice acidity, keeping it crisp and refreshing with nice texture from aging in neutral oak puncheons.

2022 Ricci Vineyard, Los Carneros Chardonnay-

A kernel aroma first greets the nose, along with rich notes of toasted brioche and vanilla bean as well as hazelnut. It has a lovely texture making it seem on the richer side, but it's balanced by good acidity. The flavors are immediately warm apple tart, along with supporting flavors of pear, lemon curd and pie crust accents. It's a luscious wine without being overly heavy or cloying and according to the winemaker, received no ML treatment.

2021 Carneros, Sonoma Pinot Noir

Planted to clone 828 planted in 1992. This wine received 33% new French oak. Aromas of red cherry, currant, strawberry and cranberry along with a dark earthy note of perhaps black tea and forest. It has bright acid which balanced its more brooding fruit character of red plum, cranberry, currant, pomegranate and cherry. It's fresh and crisp with a touch of oak spice on the finish. It sits nicely between a European expression and California.

2023 Roberts Road, Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir

20% whole cluster inclusion with the added work of browning the stems and reintroducing them into the juice. It has a very expressive nose oh high toned red fruit and meadow flowers. It's juicy and vivacious on the palate with loads of fruit, including cherry, pomegranate, strawberry and candied apple. It's a really gorgeous wine, dare I say sexy. Luscious and round, it's a plush expression of what makes balanced CA Pinot so beautiful.

2022 Murray Ranch, Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

Nose of red and black fruits with hints of fresh boysenberry. On the palate, it's dominated by red fruits- currant, plum and black cherry. It has polished tannin and really nice texture. The finish is persistent and very nice.

Solera Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

A fun bonus we got to try! Made from 3 vintages of dramatic sites in Napa- Howell Mtn., Oakville and Coombsville. It has a floral perfume over dark berry fruit. The palate is refined and loaded with an array of red and black fruits. I confess we were deep into discussion, so I didn't take as many notes here. But this is a very well made wine that will please the Napa Cab lover, staying in the sweet spot between beauty and beast. Highly recommend it if the price point of $175 fits.

2023 Caldwell Vineyard, Coombsville Chardonnay

We ended the tasting with this, so in context of having just had Cabernet- It has loads of minerality and almost petrichor to it. It has "crunchier" fruit leaning on its green edge, but doesn't come across as under ripe. It has verve and tension and layers of flavor with bright acidity throughout.

Golan Heights Winery Yarden Galilee Chardonnay 2021

Given that we're in Passover and Easter weekend, while picking up some wines for a little get-together, I saw this on a shelf with other kosher wines.

Given my affinity for good Chardonnay, I was curious to try this. They also had a 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, so that may also be of interest.

It has a fairly pale straw/lemon color with a tinge of green out to the rim.

There are hints of oak aging on the front nose. It's not an overly aromatically expressive wine. It offers apple and pear aromas along with some citrus pith and slightly underripe nectarine.

It was given some texture with partial malolactic treatment, but remains pretty bright with nice acidity. Over all, it's a tasty and pleasant wine with flavors of nectarine and white peach just bordering on being ripe with some golden apple and D'Anjou pear and even a hint of persimmon. There is just a kiss of oak spice along with some nice underlying chalky minerality.

High altitude rocky volcanic soils and a cooler climate allow this to show some nice verve and there is restraint as well in the winemaking. If you're seeking kosher wine for a seder or other celebration, this is a nice, enjoyable bottle and should easily pair well with a wide range of cuisine.

Keplinger- The Oenovangelist Flight

As Oenovangelist subscribers are currently offered a select allocation of Keplinger wines for a limited time, I took the opportunity to taste through them myself and wanted to share my own impressions.

If there is a hallmark of Helen's winemaking style, it might be a toss up between texture and persistence. The wines are all beautiful with wonderful purity of fruit, focused and balanced. It is worth noting that DJ indicated all were on day 3 and none of the wines were showing any oxidation or dullness whatsoever.

2023 Zio Tony Ranch Chardonnay- Beautifully balanced wine that rather reminded me of a Corton Charlemagne I had recently, though a touch riper. It's loaded with layers of apple, Asian pear, peach and bright citrus notes with honeycomb and hints of hazelnut. It's medium bodied and has verve from balancing acidity. Though it has good acid, it also has a lengthy finish without becoming heavy or unctuous. It exhibits gorgeous ripeness along with considerable restraint.

2022 Opalus (Grenache)- Richly textured style of Grenache, with an entry of smoked herbs and meat, brambly red and purple fruit and streaks of sage, cocoa dust and a lovely mushroom-esque umami. There are undertones of cinnamon graham and the finish is generous and long.

2022 Fuego y Mar (Syrah)- Stunning wine! Absolutely beautiful. It enters with a delicacy rather of Pinot Noir and then builds into a voluptuousness of fruit focused on black cherry, plum, acai, blackberry and currant. There is a floral edge with slight herbal accents, but this is a fruit-focused Syrah. It maintains excellent balance and a very long finish. Really a gorgeous wine throughout, with the sweet spot between pretty and powerful. Think of the floral lift of a Cote Rotie underpinned by dense, ripe red and black fruit.

2022 Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon- This has a pretty nose of pure cassis. It's rather rare to find that anymore in Napa Cabernet without loads of oak influence.

Entry is spiced plum, cola and red and black currant. There are strong hints of cinnamon over strawberry/raspberry preserves and hints of vanilla. This is a sexy wine. It leans toward blueberry fruit on the finish. It has voluptuous fruit and intense perfume and flavor while maintaining verve and structure, which is impressive. It's a generous, giving wine that goes down easy. Lovely accents toward the finish of cocoa and marzipan with an overall fresh berry tart construction. Really, a beautiful Cabernet.

Cotiere Bentrock Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021

If memory serves, this one made the biggest impression on me at our tasting last June. Cotiere is always a must-visit when in Santa Maria, after I met proprietor/winemaker Kevin Law at World of Pinot years back. I was impressed with his wines then and remain an enthusiastic advocate of all his wines. His Chards and Pinots from greater Santa Barbara County always deliver and he also does some Bordeaux varieties with equal deftness, from NorCal.

This has dusty aromas of bright, tart red fruit- cranberry, red cherry, currant and pomegranate. There are undercurrents of dry desert brush, chaparral and creosote.

It's lean entry to finish, but very flavorful. Warm spices lead into high toned red fruits like those on the nose. There are accents of hot clay along with some roasted mushroom umami and almost a hickory smoke aspect. It's complex while remaining lithe, has polished moderate tannins and lively acidity that keeps the flavor expanding through the finish.

The Bentrock Vineyard is in the Santa Rita Hills.

Aside from Mendocino and a few selections from the larger Sonoma Coast, I think some of my favorite Pinots stateside are coming from Santa Maria, SRH and the larger Santa Barbara area. Cotiere and others are well worth seeking out.boots?

Sphaerics pt 1

I am excited to have my first sampling of wines from this new label.

Sphaerics is a project by my former boss, Brian Ball, now GM at Skipstone, and wife Laura Jones, Skipstone winemaker since 2022.

Laura was assistant winemaker for 5 years at Aubert. She has also gained experience at Cliff Lede and Domaine Armand Rousseau in Gevrey-Chambertin.

Their first release in 2022 garnered high praise from Jeb Dunnuck, Owen Bargreen and Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and as an ardent Chardonnay fan, I was anxious to get to try the wine.

I got two of the wines from the 2023 vintage and am first exploring here, the 2023 Overline, from Carneros.

It has a focused nose of fruit, unencumbered by loads of new oak and malolactic influence. There is a lovely briny quality along with noticeable minerality over lifted floral notes and aromas of nectarine, white peach and Mandarin orange with whiffs of white pepper.

It has a racy entry with excellent acidity to accompany a lithe texture and plenty of verve and tension. This is definitely crafted with deference to a more Burgundian "architecture" achieving ripeness without being heavy or leaning too into tropical flavors and lushness, but with plenty of freshness and vibrancy.

It is youthful, but already shows plenty of stone fruit character lifted by lemon and Buddah's hand zest with a slightly chalky undertone and a tinge of meringue-like sweetness that amplifies the fruit character. It's a gorgeous wine, deftly balanced in its delicacy and restraint.

This is a wine I can readily and enthusiastically recommend to folks who love a leaner, fruit-forward style of Chardonnay that provides lusciousness without becoming flabby or simply, good Burgundy.

Capture the peak- 2019 Pine Mountain Merlot

This brand has had a fascinating evolution. Began originally by the late Denis Malbec and his wife May-Britt, it was a Bordeaux-inspired range of high elevation reds from the Cloverdale Peak area. I'd had some in the past and they were always delicious. Once I began working within The Spire Collection, I still enjoyed pouring and tasting the library vintages that Denis had crafted, that were acquired along with the brand by Jackson Family Wines. If memory serves, Denis' last vintage was 2012 and Graham Weerts oversaw the 2013 vintage.

As the brand was entering in renaissance in 2015, winemaker Sam Teakle took over crafting these wines. The label has always provided a delicious Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Since my departure, more varietals are now on offer. On a visit to Spire within the last year, I was struck by this wine, so had to take some home.

This vineyard sits at 2866' elevation atop Pine Mountain, in Cloverdale at the top of the Mayacamas range.

It has a dark, brooding nose of Luxardo cherries, shaved cocoa, Marionberry, black currant and Kirsch. There are also underlying hints of clove, espresso and pine resin along with sueded leather.

It has an interesting black cherry cola entry quickly balanced by marked minerality of slate and granite.  There is a lovely grilled herb quality underlying black plum, blackberry, black cherry and acai. It has nice verve and acidity and has youthful, grippy yet polished tannin.

In addition to Sam's varied world-wide experience, working with Graham at Stonestreet and the "master of Merlot" himself, Christopher Carpenter at Cardinale and Lokoya, his deftness with Cab and Merlot is apparent.

This is a serious wine, yet at a very affordable price point given its pedigree. I highly recommend this and others by Sam.

2022 Maggy Hawk Skycrest Vineyard Chardonnay

Since this wine was added to the MH lineup, I have enjoyed it. It's a wine that offers nicely balanced fruit and vibrancy with a bit of weight and texture.

For those who like a "Goldilocks zone" Chardonnay, Mendocino County is a good place to start. This is a much, from that region.

It enters with lovely aromas of peaches and cream. Piecrust spices underlie nice notes of baked apples and pears, fresh tangerine and citrus.

It begins how it ends, with lovely structure. There is a gorgeous balance of acidity and texture. There is richness in the ripeness of the fruit and from barrel and fermentation style, but it is kept in check with nice acid. For me, it sits in the sweet spot of being a nice Chard with the best of both worlds.

Flavors follow the aromas of peaches and cream, apple/pear tart, tangerine, Mandarin and subtle lemon influence all over roasted vanilla bean, fresh baked piecrust and a subtle hazelnut character.

Very nice and imminently food friendly. I recommend this wine, readily.

A celebrity... Pursued by bear.

I'd been curious about the Pursued by Bear wines since learning about them.

Proprietor/actor Kyle MacLachlan has been making wines from his home of Washington state for nearly two decades. I am always curious about a "celebrity wine", but he seems to really enjoy wine, so would at least have a passion to make a quality product. I'd say, he very much does.

2023 Twin Bear Yakima Valley Chardonnay-

Fairly subtle nose on this wine. Hints of apple, pear and citrus with suggestions of spice.

It has lively acidity that awakens the palate to more delicate flavors of golden and MacIntosh apple, D'Anjou pear and barely ripe white peach all accented by Meyer lemon and hints of pie crust.

It's a nice wine to simply sip and enjoy without too much focus or contemplation. Simply, wonderfully balanced and very tasty. Those who like leaner Chard with zippy acidity will be pleased with this wine. As such, it's sure to be super food-friendly.

Barnett Vineyards flight of 4

I got to try a nice 4-wine flight of the current lineup from Barnett Vineyards.

2023 Sangiacomo Vineyard Carneros Chardonnay- aromas of fresh apple and pear tart. Poached fruit over a frame of baking spice and flaky pastry crust. Hints of briny sea air and white pepper. Faint suggestions of gardenia. It has nice texture without feeling weighty or unctuous, balanced by nice moderate acidity. Layered flavors of apple and pear fruit with some citrus peel accents and pie crust with nutmeg and vanilla. It's a CA Chard that lies nicely in the middle ground between minerality and butter with plenty of fruit character and nice, judicious use of oak and ML.

2023 Tina Marie Vineyard, Green Valley of the Russian River Valley- The youth of this wine has it feeling super oaky upon opening and pouring. This will require a decant of an hour or more to let the strong oak influence on the nose die down. After a while, aromas emerged of pomegranate, boysenberries, black cherry and plum along with a dusty minerality and cocoa powder with leafy accents. On the palate, there is an interesting clay pot suggestion, with tart red fruits like cranberry and pomegranate along with currant and black cherry. There are also flavor accents of black tea, dried violets, slight clove and blueberry juice. It finishes with nice balancing acidity on flavors of kirsch.

2022 Merlot Spring Mtn.- Nose of black cherry, red and black currant and a graphite/iron minerality over slight hints of cinnamon graham. It has nice texture from the entry, throughout. A good streak of acidity keeps it lively on the palate with red plum, cherries, blackberry and red and black currant. There are subtle notes of dark cocoa and vanilla with some stone minerality and a touch of bay leaf. It is velvety on the tongue without being heavy and lingers long with a pleasant fruit-driven aftertaste.

2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (Spring Mtn)- On the nose, this Cabernet has a nice, focused varietal purity with loads of cassis and blackberry. There is a bit of barrel influence underpinning the fruit with hints of espresso, cocoa and cedar. It has nice verve even at 14.8% alc, and the fruit provides freshness throughout. There is balancing acidity to fine-grained tannins giving it nice grip while having a smooth texture. Lovely floral suggestions on the palate with flavors of blackcurrant, blackberry, boysenberry and black cherry. On the midpalate, suggestions emerge of dark chocolate mousse and damp earth with a roasty quality.

James Suckling's Wines of the World SF 2025

This was my first visit to this event.

Pluses:

Each station was independent with a clearly marked table number "flag" and display of the winery on the front of the unit. It made things super easy to locate.

It might have been a requirement of the wineries attending, but it was nice that they were pouring the actual 100-pt and other high-scoring wines, so it didn't feel like some bait and switch.

There was a nice range of represented wineries and regions, some of whom I had scarcely or never seen at other similar events.

Minuses:

Perhaps due more to the layout of the top floor of the Gateway Pavilion at Fort Mason, the narrow hallways got super congested at times with folks lining up at some more "famous" tables and folks trying to simply get by/through.

Food was scarce. I didn't even get to see what was being served as it was gone both times I walked by that station.

I am a fairly avid notetaker and it's my own fault I didn't bring a pad, hoping that the event would have booklets for making notes. They had mostly just a picket size floorplan and listing. That said, I didn't get to jot down any impressions, so am going from memory here. I took to photographing the wines I most enjoyed, in most cases.

We decided to beat the crowds and likelihood of running out of wine early, so we started at Louis Latour. It's never wrong to begin with Corton Charlemagne. Both the 2022 Charlemagne and the Corton Grancey Grand Cru were absolutely delicious with wonderful verve and balance.

From there, on to Chalone. The winemaker was there, but I didn't take advantage to ask any questions. Their 2022 estate Chardonnay is great and I have long been a fan of this house with both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. There is a reason they have such a long, storied history and the quality remains high. The Pinot is also worth seeking out.

On this occasion, I quite enjoyed the 2022 Willamette Valley Sisters Chardonnay from Lingua Franca. I found the Pinot Noir to be nice, but made in such a lean style that I feel I've had enjoyed it more with some food.

A delightful find, were both the 2021 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Patagonia, made by Otronia. Prior to this, I was unaware of this brand. Very nice wines.

Another new discovery were the Corbieres Blanc 2023 and Corbieres Grand Reserve 2019 from Chateau de Lastours in the south of France.

A lovely and refreshing Albarino came from Garzon Single Vineyard 2023. They also offered a Garzon Balasto tannat, which was nice, though bracing after such a fresh and fruity wine.

I am sorry that I missed Erdevik as they seemed interesting, but the day got away from me. They, after all, had a Shiraz called "Stifler's Mom".

We'd intended to hit sparklers mid-way to be a palate refresher, but the only two dedicated sparkling houses had massive lines/waits. I went for the shorter line and enjoyed the Blanc de Blancs from Delamotte. I don't care as much about Cristal, but do enjoy Roederer, but the line never really died down, so I skipped this one to spend more time tasting new wines.

Another fun find was that by Chateau Plain Pont who has a bottle shape and label reminiscent of Haut Brion. They had a nice, texturally complex Sauvignon Blanc 2022 and the Fronsac 2019 was also nice.

Also notable was the El Enemigo Cabernet Franc El Cepillo Mendoza Gran Enemigo Single VY 2021.

Zapata also had insane lines, so I opted to seek exploration elsewhere. I hit Domaine de Chevalier too late in the event, so the BDX Blanc was gone, but got the last little sip of the 2015 rouge. Very tasty and still youthful.

I hit Pio Cesare too early, so was glad to revisit later on. Both the 2020 Barolo and Barolo Onato were gorgeous, though need quite a bit of time.

This was my first exposure to VIK, with two stellar wines. Both the Valle de Cachapoal VIK 2021 and La Piu Belle 2021 were truly outstanding.

Another I thought best to hit early were Christian Moueix wines. It was fun tasting side by side and you'll notice a big lack of CA listed here. As I live and work in Napa, I opted to skip many of those as I am more than familiar. Here, an absolutely gorgeous Premier Grand Cru Classe St. Emilion 2019 from Chateau Belair Monange. Next to it, the 2021 Ulysses form Oakville. Both stunning.

I hadn't had Matthews for years and their 2000 Bordeaux-inspired "red" transfixed me years back. Both the Cabernet and Cuvee were very nice.

Two 100-pt wines from Valdicava here and deservedly so. 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli and Riserva Madonna Del Piano 2019. Beautiful wines, both.

I missed the Chateau Smith-Haut-Lafitte, but was anxious to try their newer Napa project, Cathiard, so I broke my no-Napa rule for this. Very nice wine here.

Another new wine that I was anxious to try for the first time was the big and bold 2021 Beckstoffer Las Piedras Cabernet from Annulus.

A really surprising wine was the Pinot Bianco from Cantina Terlan from Alto Adige. This was the 2021 Vorberg Riserva, and very delicious.

Another surprising wine was the Kerner from Cantina Valle Iscaro from Alto Adige called Aristos from the 2022 vintage.

It'd been years since I have tasted Freeman, and enjoyed both Pinots here, but I think my favorite of the two was 2021 Gloria Estate from Green Valley RRV.

Chateau Cantemerle 2015 was showing nice at 9 years of age, as was that from Chateau Lascombes from 2018.

I was completely unaware of Germany-in-Willamette, but was pleasantly surprised by a nice Pinot Noir from Apassionata Dundee Hills Andante 2017. This is a Dr Loosen project.

Both wines were quite nice from Famiglia Cotarella in Le Macioche Brunello di Montalcino 2018 and Lazio Montiano 2020.

Another nice treat was from a 3L of Campogiovanni 2016 Il Quercione Brunello di Montalcino.

Continuing with Brunello, I enjoyed both from La Rasina with the 2016 Il Divasco Riserva and 2019 Brunello. Another nice pair was from Uccelliera with their 2020 Brunello and 2019 Riserva. Both were also very, very good from Argiano with the 2020 Brunello and 2021 Toscana Solengo.

Switching to Chianti, I enjoyed both the offerings from Barone Ricasoli; the 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio and Gran Selezione Colledila 2021. Another great Chianti Classico came in the form of Maggiolo 2022 by Lamole di Lamole.

Also from Tuscany, the Corbaia 2021 Toscana from Castello di Bossi was very tasty and the Cabernet Franc Filare 18 2021 Toscana from Casadei.

I tend to steer away from Argentine Malbec in many cases, as it's just rarely my thing. I was reminded they can be quite delicious with both the Nieto Senetiner wines; Malbec Mendoza Don Nicanor Barrel Select 2021 and Malbec Lujan de Cuyo Villa Blanca Estate 2021. Another delicious example was the Doña Paula Malbec Mendoza Gualtallary Seleccion de Bodega 2021 and in addition, a very tasty Cabernet Franc in the Mendoza Altitude Series 1350 from 2021.

Another nice reminder of Argentine Malbec came from two wines from Colomé. From Salta, both the Malbec Altos Valles Calchaquies Altura Maxima 2019 and Valle Calchaqui Estate 2022 were quite good.

Two very nice Right Bank wines came from Chateau Tour Saint Christophe St. Emilion 2020 and Chateau La Patache Pomerol 2020.

Another nice treat was to try two different wines by the same house in different regions. Bodegas Valdemar offered a tasty Rioja in their Conde Valdemar Gran Reserva 2017 and very delicious Valdemar Estates Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 from Walla Walla Valley, WA.

Some of my top wines and more-than-welcome introductions were to these great wines/houses.

Juve & Camps Cava Reserva de la Familia Gran Reserve Brut Nature 2018 and Pagos de Anguix Ribera del Duero Costalara 2020- outstanding quality and a tremendous value for the price!

The 2020 Ao Yun Shangri-La from Yunnan China.

Prats & Symington- These were gorgeous, elegant wines that I very much enjoyed, possibly more excitedly than any other "find". If you can find these, I highly recommend 2022 Douro Post Scriptum de Chryseia and 2021 Douro Chryseia.

Naturally some of the usual suspects offered delicious wines, including Almaviva Puente Alto 2022, Clos Apalta with 2021 Le Petit Clos and 2021 Valle de Apalta.

2022 Patz & Hall Durell Vineyard Chardonnay

It has a bit of richness on the nose I can only equate to creamed corn, along with toasted/grilled peach and nectarine. There are layers of...
